Semtech Announces Sampling of HL781x LPWA Modules with Skylo Connectivity

Unveiling innovative cellular solutions at MWC Barcelona 2025

Semtech Corporation, a high-performance semiconductor, IoT systems and cloud connectivity service provider, announced sampling of its HL781x LPWA (Low Power Wide Area) modules with Skylo, a pioneer in Non-Terrestrial Network (NTN) services.

This major milestone unlocks satellite connectivity for IoT applications where conventional cellular networks are unavailable, such as shipping and emergency management.

Currently undergoing certification, Semtech’s HL781x modules are fully compatible with Skylo’s expansive satellite network service and underscores Semtech’s continued leadership in IoT innovation, enabling seamless global connectivity—even in remote areas—through NTN integration enabling satellite connectivity. This strategic partnership is a testament to Semtech and Skylo’s commitment to enhancing global connectivity options, bridging the gap between terrestrial and satellite networks for a more connected world.

“The power of satellite-over-cellular is now accessible to more organizations worldwide through our partnership with Semtech,” said Vijay Krishnan, vice president of strategic partnerships at Skylo. “As we look towards the future, the advantages of standards-based, ubiquitous coverage become clear. No one else has built an integrated experience from the ground up with a standards-based ecosystem of partners from chipset makers to module and device manufacturers, certification testing labs, SIM providers, and mobile carriers. We are paving the way forward for the entire industry to embrace enhanced connectivity in their products and services.”

“At Semtech, we are committed to delivering cellular IoT innovations that empower our customers to stay ahead in a rapidly evolving market,” said Ross Gray, senior vice president and general manager, IoT systems and connectivity at Semtech. “Our mission is to simplify IoT deployments with scalable and reliable solutions, enabling businesses to innovate confidently and succeed in today’s global market.”

In addition to supporting satellite connectivity, the highly versatile HL781x modules also support terrestrial LPWA networks using Cat-M and NB-IoT. When paired with Semtech’s Smart Connectivity Premium service, the solution provides truly global coverage to connect critical applications anywhere in the world, enabling enterprises to simplify their global logistics. Smart Connectivity Premium is a multi-IMSI, multi-profile solution with access to more than 600 mobile networks in over 190 countries and territories, including regions with permanent roaming restrictions.

Experience Semtech’s Cellular IoT Solutions at Embedded World 2025

The IoT ecosystem is rapidly evolving, fueled by emerging technology standards like 5G RedCap and satellite IoT. According to IoT Analytics’ Global Cellular IoT Connectivity Tracker & Forecast, global cellular IoT connections are forecasted to grow at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 15% between 2024 and 2030.

Semtech remains at the forefront of these developments, delivering innovative solutions designed to empower customers in this evolving landscape.

Semtech will showcase its latest IoT advancements at Embedded World 2025 (April 9–11, 2025) in Nuremberg, Germany, including the Skylo-certified HL781x modules, along with the new-generation HL7900 5G LPWA solution, the EM8695 5G RedCap module, and the RC71 Cat-1 bis modules.
