What Squid Game means for Netflix Inc
Squid Game logged 1.65 billion hours within a month of its release last fall to become the most-viewed series in the history of Netflix Inc.
The stock is in turmoil ever since the streaming company said it could lose up to 2 million subscribers in its current fiscal quarter. On the earnings call, co-CEO Ted Sarandos had said:
Everybody knows about Squid Game. It was probably the biggest show in the history of television. We’re continuing to improve constantly in getting those moments that can lead to something like a Squid Game.
The release of a blockbuster like Squid Game, therefore, could be a much-needed relief for Netflix in terms of subscriber growth.
