Wireless Logic’s resilient NB-IoT connections provide uninterrupted data exchange in support of healthy environments

Wireless Logic, a leading global Internet of Things (IoT) solutions provider, today announces that Ultra-Protect a provider of air quality monitoring, management and solutions, has chosen its NB-IoT service to connect its sensors.

By replacing previous cellular and Wi-Fi connections with Wireless Logic’s connectivity, Ultra-Protect has already seen an improvement in reliability.

Ultra-Protect works with organisations across education, healthcare, hospitality, construction, retail and more – including the NHS, MultiPlex, TFL and the Surrey & Hants Fire and Rescue Services – to deliver detailed air quality assessments along with tailored recommendations and solutions.

With growing awareness of air pollution’s impact on health – including a UK mortality rate linked to poor air quality estimated at up to 36,000 cases annually – demand for air quality improvement services is rising fast. Among Ultra-Protect’s clients are landlords with legal responsibilities to maintain safe environments. From October 2025, Awaab’s Law will require social landlords in the UK to address damp, mould and urgent repairs within strict timeframes, which is an area where Ultra-Protect’s monitoring and insights can provide vital support.

To meet rising demand, Ultra-Protect has ambitious plans to scale and is working closely with Wireless Logic to support its next phase of growth.

“Air quality is critical to health and wellbeing, but it’s invisible – you can’t fix what you can’t see,” said Andy Potter, Director at Ultra-Protect. “We provide organisations with year-round visibility through continuous data, analyse it, identify risks and develop tailored action plans with training and support to help clients take control. For that, resilient connectivity is critical. Wireless Logic stood out for its all-round service, honest approach and ability to deliver the uninterrupted data flow we rely on. With confidence in our connectivity, we can now focus fully on scaling our business to meet growing demand.”

From a thorough assessment of Ultra-Protect’s business and requirements, Wireless Logic determined that NB-IoT is the right technology for its purposes. It is energy-efficient, has the deepest reach into underground deployments where some sensors need to be and supports long application lifecycles. To mitigate the risks of outages threatening continuous data availability, the solution has resilience built-in through two network profiles on the same SIM. Should a SIM fail to connect to one of the networks, automatic network switching kicks in for increased reliability. The same SIM also supports roaming, should Ultra-Protect wish to expand its product into the European market.

“During the COVID-19 pandemic we all became more aware of the impact of the air we breathe on our health, but air quality is constantly under threat from dust, mould, allergens and pollutants,” said Iain Davidson, Senior Product Marketing Manager at Wireless Logic.

“The IoT has a critical role to play in providing the data needed for informed decision-making, but it must be reliable. We are excited to provide Ultra-Protect with robust connectivity so it can meet customers’ expectations and make a real difference to people’s home, work and social environments.”
